ALCARAZ RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM NADAL AFTER OLYMPIC SILVER MEDAL FINISH

Furthermore, Alcaraz received support from his Spanish compatriot Nadal after the former settled for an Olympic silver medal finish in Paris.

The Villena, Alicante, native absorbed a 7-6(4), 7-6(2) loss to Djokovic in the tennis men’s singles final on Sunday that reduced him to tears.

Moreover, the 38-year-old Nadal acknowledged that the loss was a “difficult day” for his younger teammate before he offered encouraging words for the 21-year-old.

“Carlos, although I know today (Sunday) is a difficult day, it is a medal that is very important for the whole country,” Nadal told Alcaraz on social media.

“With time you will see that for yourself, too,” he added.

Nadal, who himself completed a career “Golden Slam” for winning gold in Beijing in 2008, thanked Alcaraz for giving pride and honor to Spain.

“Thank you for this incredible week and for a medal that you give to Spanish sport,” Nadal said.

DJOKOVIC BACKS YOUNG SPANIARD FOR FUTURE OLYMPIC TRIUMPHS

Moreover, Djokovic backed Alcaraz for the Spaniard’s future Olympic triumphs.

The 37-year-old Serbian superstar is confident Alcaraz will get his Olympic glory soon.

Djokovic joined Nadal as one of five players to win the career “Golden Slam”

“Considering your age, your energy, and the way you play, you probably have 20 more Olympics ahead of you,” Djokovic told Alcaraz on social media.

“Your gold will come. Until next time, amigo,” he added.

Alcaraz can start his new Olympic quest in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Furthermore, the man also known as “Nole” understands Alcaraz’s frustration.

The Serbian failed to win gold in his Olympic debut in 2008.

Djokovic settled for the bronze in that year.

He then placed fourth in 2012 and 2020 and was ousted in the first round in Rio in 2016.

NOLE THANKS ALCARAZ FOR ‘EPIC FINAL’ IN PARIS

Djokovic also went to social media to acknowledge “another epic final” he endured against Alcaraz.

“Another epic final. El Classico,” the Serbian said.

“Congratulations to you (Alcaraz) and your team for an excellent Olympics,” he added.

Meanwhile, Djokovic noted winning for Serbia in the Olympics tops all the Grand Slam titles he has won in his career.

The 24-time champion cited other tennis greats like Nadal, Andy Murray, and Roger Federer.

Djokovic later shared the same passion when playing for flag and country.

“I know Carlos and Rafa love to play for Spain, Andy (Murray) loves to play for Great Britain, Roger (Federer) for Switzerland. Alex Zverev won at Tokyo for Germany,” Djokovic said.

“You saw the reactions of all these guys when they win; it’s something special,” he added.
