Alvarez-Crawford megafight is official

Crawford will challenge Alvarez, the freshly minted undisputed super middleweight champion at the Allegiant Stadium.

The details of the fight were confirmed following Alvarez’s unanimous decision win to reclaim the IBF title from William Scull in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday.

Following the victory, Crawford stepped into the ring for a stare-down with Alvarez.

Crawford, 37, will move up two weight classes to challenge Alvarez.

Pound-for-pound fighters

Crawford last fought in August, when he outclassed Israil Madrimov to capture a title at 154 pounds.

The 37-year-old (41-0, 31 KOs) is a four-division world champion and one of only three fighters to become undisputed champion in two weight classes during the four-belt era (since 2004).

If he defeats Alvarez, Crawford would become the first boxer in history to claim undisputed titles in three divisions.

Meanwhile, Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs), 34, is a two-time undisputed super middleweight champion.

He has never lost at the weight, improving to 11-0 with a recent win over Scull.

Crawford is currently ranked No. 3 on ESPN’s pound-for-pound list, while Alvarez sits at No. 6.

Turki Alalshikh and Dana White’s TKO Boxing will launch their first event with the Alvarez-Crawford card.

Alalshikh said he will announce the broadcast platform for the bout at a later date.
