The French talisman will become the highest earner, with a reported salary of more than 2m pounds.
Martial agreed a verbal contract with AEK after leaving Man United during the Summer transfer window
The 28-year-old left Old Trafford at the end of his contract in June; since then, he has been without a club.
Ahead of his move to Athens, Martial was linked with Brazilian outfit Flamengo; however, according to sources, his salary demands were ‘unworkable.’
Atalanta, Besiktas, and other sides were considering a move for Martial, but it seemed like it all ended up hitting the wall.
According to Relevo, he has verbally agreed to sign for AEK, who are top of the Greece Super League after four matches.
Before Martial, AEK wanted to sign David Fofana, but the deal could not materialize.
The downfall of a once-deemed-to-be a wonder-kid
Martial was one of the most potential strikers to reach the top level during his prime in 2015 when United signed him from Monaco for 36 million pounds.
From the world’s most expensive teenager, Martial became a liability as he failed to live up to expectations.
He started his career at Old Trafford well, scoring a great goal on his debut against Liverpool. He ended his debut campaign with an impressive 17 goals in 49 appearances.
The Frenchman could have been more prolific in his second season, though he finished with eight goals in all competitions. After a frustrating couple of years, Martial had the best season of his career in 2019/20, ending that campaign with 23 goals in 48 matches. It felt as though he might fulfill his lofty expectations.
But since then, Martial has struggled. The Monaco forward has scored just 19 goals across the last four years. During that period, he missed 65 matches through injury, and he never really kicked on throughout the end of his time at United. It was announced in May that Martial would leave the club after nine years.
