According to transfer guru David Ornstein, the London side opted not to keep the Scottish ace and let him go after six years.
Tierney to leave Arsenal after 6 years
Tierney joined the Gunners in 2019 from Celtic. The fullback became a favorite choice for the starting XI, playing 27 games throughout the 2020/21 Premier League season.
He featured 22 times in the next season in 2021/22 and 27. However, he has struggled with injuries this season and just returned to action against Crystal Place at the Carabao Cup.
Isle of Man-born Tierney had not played a minute for the north Londoners in 500 days but was named, as Arteta opted for a heavily rotated starting XI, as the club’s starting left-back as they secure passage into the semi-finals.
Mikel Arteta sent Tierney on loan last season at La Liga outlet Sociedad as the Spanish manager favored Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior instead of Tierney.
With Arsenal’s decision to offload Tierney, the player can start negotiating with other clubs. Given his experiences in the Spanish La Liga and English Premier League, it’s not hard to see exciting offers on his table.
