Highlights – Barcelona beat Real Madrid in Super Cup
Gavi, Robert Lewandowski and Pedri were the scorers for Barca, while the consolation one came from Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.
4-3-3 system was shifted by Xavi with an extra man in midfield to create more chances while putting more pressures on Real Madrid.
The game was tight until the 33th minute, when Gavi put the ball in the back of the net. Barca took advantage of Real defender Antonio Rudiger whose pass wente across his own area and met by Sergio Busquet. The attack was finely finished with Gavi’s precise left-foot strike.
Lewandowski extended the lead 12 minutes later on the counter when Frenkie de Jong found Gavi, who ghosted in behind Real’s defensive line before assisting for the Polish striker.
Another mistake cost Real Madrid the 3rd conceded goal when substitute Dani Ceballos lost control of the ball in midfield and Gavi registered his second assist by a cross for Pedri to fire in point-blank.
The late goal by Benzema did not do much for Real Madrid, as Barca tasted the very first silverware since Lionel Messi’s departure and the economic crisis.
