The 17-year-old defender started Barca’s eventual 5-2 victory over Serbian side Red Star Belgrade but had to be taken off with just over 20 minutes to go after having a cleat straight into the face.
Red Star player Uros Spajic was booked for a high challenge on the youngster, with his boot hitting Cubarsi in the face as the Barca starlet stooped to head the ball.
Cubarsi immediately needed medical attention as the youngster was subbed eventually and replaced by Sergi Dominguez.
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick updated on Cubarsi after a horrible injury
After the game, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick confirmed the youngster was okay but had required numerous stitches to patch up the damage to his face.
“Pau Cubarsi is fine,” he said in his post-match interview.
“But he will have ten stitches on his face.”
Pictures of the 17-year-old after the stitches then emerged on social media and it’s obviously not for the fainted heart.
The teenager smiled as his gruesome scars were shown, and Gavi and other Barca teammates joined him on X/Twitter to send him compliments.
He even put his thumbs up to show he was alright.
Cubarsi has taken to men’s football like a duck to water. Since his debut in January, he has made 40 appearances for Barca and signed a contract extension to 2027.
The teenager has been with the LaLiga giants since 2018, when he joined at 11 from Girona.
Now, he’s helped Barca to sit sixth in the Champions League league phase and top of La Liga.
