Barcelona enjoying a near-perfect first half of the season
According to Opta Jose, La Liga’s current top-of-the-table side, Barca sits atop the European top five leagues with the most different scorers, with:
- Robert Lewandowski: 14 goals
- Raphinha: 7 goals
- Lamine Yamal: 5 goals
- Dani Olmo: 5 goals
Barcelona’s offensive trident has scored 26 goals in 12 La Liga games and already has more goals than Real Madrid (21). Lewa-Yamal-Raphinha contributed more than half of the team’s 40 goals.
The victory against Espanyol put Barca atop the League’s standings with 9 points more than Madrid, whose fixture against Valencia was postponed due to severe weather.
The Brazilian winger, Raphinha, has set the pitch on fire, surpassing his personal best in just two seasons with Barca. His 7 goals in the League and another 4 in the Champions League have fans buzzing with excitement. Meanwhile, Lewy continues to lead the tournament with 14 goals.
What happened with Barca’s rivals Real Madrid?
On the contrary, Madrid’s offensive trident has been relatively unproductive so far. After 11 days, Carlo Ancelotti’s men were stuck at 21 goals in favor.
Kylian Mbappé, with 6 goals (3 from penalties) is the team’s top scorer, with 8 goals less than Lewandowski. Vinicius Jr. is next, with 5, while Rodrygo Goes has barely gotten wet on three occasions.
The most worrying performance for Los Blancos is, without a doubt, that of Jude Bellingham. The Englishman was Madrid’s top scorer in the first half of 2023/24, but this season he still needs to score his first goal in the League or Champions League.
