According to the Catalan medical team, the club’s wonderkid Yamal received a blow to his right ankle during the game against Leganes. The latest test result showed a negative update, as the Spanish winger had a grade 1 injury to the ligament in the ankle.
With this injury, Yamal will miss all the coming fixtures of December and early of January, and have three to four weeks to recover.
Games that Yamal will miss as Barcelona is in crisis
The anticipated La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid will be the first game that Yamal will miss. Then, he will watch from the stand as Barca travel to Barbastro for the Copa del Rel fixture early next year.
Ideally, the Spaniard is expected to return to action when Barcelona takes on Bilbao at the Super Cup in January on Saudi Arabian soil.
The winger has been a pivotal player for Barca this season, scoring six goals and assisting 12 times in 21 games. In Yamal’s absence, Barca had poor results, being stunned by Sociedad and Las Palmas and held by Celta Vigo.
Barca is now in trouble after blowing recent games despite sitting atop with 38 points after 18 matches. Atletico Madrid is edging closer, with goal differences the only element separating the two sides for the positions, while Real Madrid, who sits third, played a game less.
