BCCI PLANS TO PULL INDIA OUT OF 2025 ASIA CUP
The BCCI plans to pull Team India out of the 2025 Asia Cup.
Furthermore, the move became possible after a Pakistan minister is currently leading the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), which organizes the Asia Cup.
Moreover, the (BCCI) Board of Control for Cricket in India is keen on its plan despite India hosting this year’s Asia Cup.
That tournament is dependent on an India vs Pakistan matchup to generate more revenues.
Additionally, the absence of such a matchup could hurt the ACC’s plans under Mohsin Naqvi.
Naqvi, incidentally, is also chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
‘INDIAN TEAM CAN’T PLAY IN A TOURNAMENT THAT IS ORGANIZED BY THE ACC,’ SAYS BCCI SOURCE
A BCCI source said that the “Indian team can’t play in a tournament that is organized by the ACC.”
Moreover, the source noted that the BCCI is in “constant touch” with the Indian government.
Furthermore, India’s participation in the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup, the source said, is also in doubt.
“The Indian team can’t play in a tournament that is organised by the ACC, whose chief is a Pakistani minister,” the BCCI source said.
“We have verbally communicated to ACC about our withdrawal from the upcoming Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup,” the source added.

‘TRICKY’ FOR BCCI TO PUSH THROUGH WITH ASIA CUP DUE TO ANTI-PAKISTAN SENTIMENTS
It would be “tricky” for the BCCI, reports said, to push through with the Asia Cup due to current anti-Pakistan sentiments.
Furthermore, it also won’t help ACC and Pakistan that most of the Asia Cup’s sponsors are coming from India.
Moreover, the Asia Cup’s media rights was brought by Sony Pictures Networks Asia (SPNI).
This was for a USD170 million annual fee last year.
Organizers are aware that a deal would need to be reworked if the Asia Cup is postponed this year.
India won the 2023 Asia Cup final in Colombo that was staged under a hybrid model.
However, host Pakistan failed to to advance in the final.
