BENN SUSPENSION LIFTED BY UK PANEL OVER BANNED SUBSTANCE CASE

The Benn suspension was lifted by the UK National Anti-Doping Panel (NAPD) over a banned substance case that arose in October 2022.

Furthermore, Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) tested positive for the banned substance just before his canceled bout against Chris Eubank Jr.

Moreover, the English welterweight contender tested positive for the female fertility drug clomifene.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has banned clomifene inside and outside the competition.

Two drug tests conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) showed Benn failing on both occasions just before the Eubank fight.

PROMOTER SEES ‘BIGGEST FIGHT POSSIBLE’ FOR BENN

Moreover, promoter Eddie Hearn sees the “biggest fight possible” for Benn after his doping suspension was lifted.

Furthermore, Hearn disclosed that Benn told him to look for the “biggest fight” he could get in his comeback bid.

For now, the promoter is just relieved Benn’s “journey” will continue after the NAPD made the decision.

“Fully cleared of any wrongdoing after a full NAPD hearing. The journey can now continue,” Hearn told Machroom Boxing.

“It feels like the beginning,” he added.

ENNIS, EUBANK, BARRIO AMONG HEARN’S POTENTIAL FIGHTS FOR BENN

Furthermore, Hearn believes Jaron “Boots” Ennis, Eubank, Mario Barrio, and Eimantas Stainois are potential matchups for Benn.

Moreover, the promoter is aware the UKAD may file an appeal regarding the lifting of the ban, but he said their options remain open.

“This almost feels like we’ve got a new fighter who is already kind of life self-made as one of the biggest stars in British boxing,” Hearn said.

Additionally, the promoter cited the 28-year-old English fighter will not waste time in 2025.

“We can jump straight into a world title shot at 147 against Boots (Ennis), Barrios, or Staniosis,” Hearn said.

“We can step up to middleweight and fight Chris Eubank Jr. in the biggest fight in British boxing,” he added.
