BULLS TRADING CARUSO TO OKC FOR GIDDEY AS POSSIBLE BALL REPLACEMENT

The Bulls are trading two-time All-Defensive team guard Caruso to OKC.

In return, Chicago will get Giddey as a possible replacement for injured guard Lonzo Ball.

Furthermore, the 30-year-old Caruso has been pursued by Thunder general manager Sam Presti in the past post-season.

Additionally, OKC is convinced Caruso will complement fellow on-baller defenders and new teammates Luguentz Dort and Cason Wallace.

Interestingly, Caruso will be eligible for a four-year, USD80-million contract extension six months from the date of the trade.

CHICAGO HOPES GIDDEY POTENTIAL TO GROW AFTER SOPHOMORE SEASON

Furthermore, Chicago is optimistic the 21-year-old Giddey’s potential will grow after a productive sophomore season.

Additionally, the No.6 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, averaged 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.

Moreover, Giddey should be a good fit in Chicago playing alongside score-first guard Coby White.

Interestingly, White shot 38% from three-point range on 7.0 attempts per game last season.

Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Giddey’s game will evolve the same as Ball, who shot 31.5 from three-point range in two seasons with the Lakers.

OKC HOPES LONG-TERM DEAL FOR CARUSO TO HELP BUILD THUNDER FUTURE

Furthermore, OKC is optimistic about offering a long-term deal for Caruso to help build the Thunder’s future core.

Additionally, Presti should look ahead as Caruso will be eligible for a four-year USD80-million contract extension six months from the date of the trade.

Should Caruso replace Giddey into OKC’s starting five, only big man Jalen Williams did not get All-Defensive votes among them.

Interestingly, All-NBA guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, incoming sophomore Chet Holmgren, and Dort are the other OKC starters.

The move may compare the Thunder to borrowing the formula of newly-crowned NBA champion Boston Celtics.

The Celtics’ starters – Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and Jrue Holiday – all received All-Defensive team votes.

Only injured center-forward Kristaps Porzingis – and even veteran Al Horford – did not merit any votes.
