Celtics beat Knicks, ties NBA 3-point record

Al Horford’s triple in the fourth quarter gave Boston 29 made threes in the game, tying the NBA record.

The Milwaukee Bucks previousy hit 29 three-pointers during a victory over the Miami Heat in December 2020.

The game was already decided by that time, but the Celtics spend the final minutes breaking the NBA record.

They missed 13 straight three-pointers.

Jaylen Brown, who finished the game with 23 points on 5-of-9 shooting from deep, said the team was “jinxed” when trying to go for the record.

“It was almost like we got jinxed or something,” he said.

“When we were playing, having fun, playing our style of basketball, everything was going in. Once the crowd got into it, and we started hunting them, we couldn’t hit the bright side of the barn.”

Jayson Tatum led Boston with 37 points on 8-of-11 shooting from downtown. Derrick White also lit up the floor with 24 points on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc.

Celtics raise 18th banner

Before the first NBA game of the 2024-25 season, the Celtics raised a “2024 World Champions” banner to the rafters during a special pregame ceremony.

The Celtics also received their championship rings in honor of their 18th NBA title.

Boston secured the 2024 Larry O’Brien trophy by defeating the Dallas Mavericks.
