Champions League fixtures round of 16 (1st leg)

Tuesday

  • PSG vs Bayern Munich
  • AC Milan vs Tottenham Hotspur

Wednesday

  • Club Brugge vs Benfica
  • Dortmund vs Chelsea

The two pairs will meet again on early March for the second leg as they switch the venues. It’s worth noting that there will be no more away-goal rule, so if they end up in draws, then extra times and probably penalty-shootout will be required to decide.

Will Messi and Mbappe be fit to host Bayern

It was said for days that Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe were not in their best conditions to face the Germain side.

However, the duo was included in PSG’s squad set to take on Bayern in the round-of-16 first leg in Paris. Messi and Mbappe were also training ahead of the clash and looked totally fine with no sign of injuries.

Injury-hit Tottenham visiting struggling Serie A reigning champions AC Milan

Meanwhile in Italy, Tottenham is expected to have a difficult game since they have been hit with injuries for the past few days.

The London-based club is without a string of star players like Hugo Lloris, Sessegnon, Bissouma and Bentacur for injuries, while Bentacur is out for suspension.

Milan is in no better condition, only in terms of mentality as the Italian Serie A reigning champions had failed to win in the last five consecutive league games. However, Olivier Giroud scored the only goal to grab Rossoneri’s victory against Torino last weekend to give a boost to the players ahead of Tottenham’s visit.

Giroud scored

The last time two clubs clashed in Champions League dates back to 2010-11, also during round of 16. Peter Crouch scored the only goal in second leg at San Siro to eliminate Milan.
