Real Madrid 1-0 Liverpool (6-2 agg) – Highlights
Champions League reigning champions Madrid produced a stunning comeback, beating Liverpool at Anfield 5-2 in the first leg.
The three-goal gap was battle that was too big for Jurgen Klopp’s side to win, and Benzema, a familiar face, put Reds out of their misery by scoring the winning goal in the second leg at Bernabeu.
The goalkeepers took the spotlights during the game, with Allison blocked Vinicius Jr at close range and saved Eduardo Camavinga’s deflected shot. Meanwhile, Thibaut Courtois at the other end was not to be shadowed by Allison.
Real Madrid’s number one goalkeeper pulled brilliant saves to stop Darwin Nunez’s and Cody Gakpo’s attempts.
First half was goalless and it had to wait until the 78th minute to see the home team celebrated.
Former France International striker made no mistake when Vinicus Jr miscued his finish and scored an open goal.
This is the Madrid’s talisman’s 20th goal in 20 games in the Champions League knock-out stages, and his 13th goal in the last eight knock-out games of the most elite clubs’ competition.
The goal was enough for Real Madrid to finish a dominant 6-2 aggregate against Liverpool, and registered three years in a row they eliminated the English Premier League giant from the Champions League.
