The Champions League play-off was full of drama early on 12/2. Man City and Real Madrid left it all on the pitch in a thrilling clash at the Etihad. Despite missing some key players with injuries, both sides battled hard.

Man City opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Erling Haaland netted a goal. Even though there was a bit of controversy over a possible offside, the goal stood, and City took a 1-0 lead. The game was a tense affair until the 60th minute, when Real Madrid finally broke the deadlock. Kylian Mbappe made a brilliant run and fired a shot that rattled the post, leaving goalkeeper Ederson stranded and leveling the score at 1-1.

The match remained tight until the 80th minute. A foul by Dani Ceballos in the box gave Real Madrid a penalty, and Haaland calmly converted his second goal, giving City a 2-1 lead. But just six minutes later, former City man Brahim Diaz who was subbed in to replace Rodrygo, struck from close distance to make it 2-2 and sending shockwaves through the home crowd. When it looked like the game might end in a draw, Jude Bellingham entered the box during stoppage time (90+2) to score the winning goal for Real Madrid, making the final score 3-2.

Sporting 0-3 Dortmund – A Final Nail in the Coffin for the Portuguese Side

Their struggles were partly blamed on the absence of coach Ruben Amorim, which seemed to affect the players’ performance.
