Chelsea signs USA international Caleb Wiley

Chelsea confirmed the signing United States national team left-back Caleb Wiley, the West London club announced on Monday.

Chelsea signs USA standout Wiley

Wiley, 19, joins Chelsea from Atlanta United on a six-year contract, with a club option for another year.

Multiple outlets reported the transfer fee was $11 million.

Wiley emerged as a standout at Atlanta’s academy and has been part of the MLS club’s first-team squad since 2022.

He made his his senior debut for the USMNT against Mexico last October.

“Caleb epitomizes the pathway that we envisioned when we started this club,” Atlanta’s technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a statement.

“Born and raised in Atlanta, he joined our Academy at 11 years old and went on to earn every step in his path.”

“Over that time, he debuted for the national team and was chosen to represent our country at the 2024 Paris Olympics.”

Wiley arrives in Stamford Bridge

With the recent signing, Wiley becomes the latest American to play for Chelsea.

Wiley’s USMNT teammate, Christian Pulisic, previously played in Stamford Bridge from 2019 to 2023 before transferring to AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Wiley will be part of the under-23 squad that is set to compete at the Paris Olympics this month.
