Clippers management cryptic on Leonard return

In LA Clipper-land, no news is no news when it comes to Kawhi Leonard’s return from his ACL injury.

Both Clippers owner Steve Ballmer as well as president of basketball operations and head coach Lawrence Frank echo the same sentiment that “no one knows” when the enigmatic wingman would fully recover and suit up.

“At this point, it is just no one knows when you are dealing with a recovery from an ACL [injury], the time frame,” Frank said. “You just attack it day by day. He has a very detailed plan with a great group, and we will just let his body and the doctors tell us when it is the right time.”

Ballmer mentioned during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Intuit Dome, “Nobody knows at this stage… For sure, it is possible. But it will depend on what the doctors say and what Kawhi says.”

Other Clipper players who are having minor injuries include center Serge Ibaka (back) and rookie point guard Jason Preston (foot). Ibaka will have minor and non-contact participation in training camp. Preston will skip the start of the camp as team doctors are still determining the severity of his injury.
