Cooper Connolly was added for his first Australia Test call up on Wednesday in a Tour of Sri Lanka after he earned the nod of selectors.

CONNOLLY ADDED TO LINEUP, ENDS MAXWELL HOPES OF ADDING TEST CAPS
Connolly was added to play for Australia in its Sri Lanka Tour, thus ending Glenn Maxwell’s hopes of joining the squad.
Furthermore, Connolly provides an all-around option for the squad after starring for Western Australia in interstate cricket.
Moreover, the 21-year-old left-arm spinner also plays for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bsh League.
Maxwell was hoping to be added to the squad for a chance to improve on his seven career Test caps.
He came close to being included in the Australia XI in its recent tour of Sri Lanka in 2022.
KUHNEMANN, MURPHY INCLUDED TO BOOST AUSTRALIA XI SPINNER CORPS
Moreover, Matt Kuhnemann and offspinner Todd Murphy were included to boost Australia’s roster.
Furthermore, Kuhnemann and Murphy are expected to provide support to Nathan Lyon and complete three frontline spinners for Australia.
The announcements came after Mitchell Marsh has been left out of the 16-man roster following his omission in the final Test against India.
Steven Smith has been named team captain in lieu of Pat Cummins.
Cummins is recovering from an ankle injury he sufferred during the summer.
SELECTORS’ CHAIR CONVINCED AUSTRALIA LINEUP TO ‘GROW THEIR GAMES’
Furthermore, the selectors’ chair is convinced that the current Australia lineup will allow the young players to “grow their games.”
Moreover, Geroge Bailey cited the unlimited potential for the squad.
“This squad provides several ways to structure the XI depending on what type of wickets they may encounter in each match.
He added that young cricketers in the team will “grow their games in subcontinent conditions where we have a number of important tours in coming years.”
Meanwhile, the team will head to the United Arab Emirates for a training camp.
They are seto to play in the first Test on January 29.
