COPA AMERICA: Argentina trolls Drake after losing $300K bet

Argentina took a shot at rapper Drake, who lost $300,000 by betting on Canada against the defending champions in the Copa America semifinal.

Argentina takes shot at Drake

Drake posted an image on Instagram showing his bet rooting for his hometown team, Canada.

If Canada had won the fixture, he would have received a $2.88 million payout.

However, goals from Julian Alvarez and Lionel Messi made sure that Drake would end up losing his bet.

With the win, Argentina enters into their fourth final in five editions of Copa America.

To add insult to the injury, the 2022 World Cup winner posted a photo on their social media channel, accompanied by the caption: “Not like us, not with us.”

What the caption actually meant

Argentina’s caption “Not Like Us” referenced the title of a diss track by American rapper Kendrick Lamar from May.

Lamar’s beef with Drake has been highly publicized this summer, with both rappers releasing several solo tracks taking shots at each other.

“Not Like Us” has garnered nearly half a billion streams on Spotify, and the music video has over 115 million views on YouTube.

This was Argentina’s response to Drake betting against the Messi-led squad.

Nonetheless, Argentina will play either Uruguay or Colombia in Sunday’s final.
