Crawford vs Alvarez bout in the works
Uncrowned’s Keith Idec first reported the news on Monday via Ring Magazine.
According to Ring Magazine, the fight is set to take place at Allegiant Stadium.
Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority chairman, Turki Alalshikh, will organize the event.
Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) moved up from 147 to 154 pounds in August, winning a title against Israil Madrimov.
However, the American fighter will now jump two more weight classes to 168 pounds to challenge Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs).
Two boxing superstars collide
Crawford, 37, is Uncrowned’s No. 2-ranked pound-for-pound boxer, while Alvarez, 34, is ranked No. 6.
Mexico’s Alvarez, 34, still holds the WBA, WBC and WBO titles at 168 pounds.
In 2024, Alvarez scored decision wins over Jaime Munguia and Edgar Berlanga.
Meanwhile, Crawford has not fought more than once in a year since 2019.
His career-best victory came in July 2023 when he secured a ninth-round TKO over Errol Spence Jr., claiming the undisputed welterweight championship.
Both Crawford and Alvarez are four-division champion.
