Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are on the same side of the Australian Open draw opposite world No.1 Jannik Sinner.

DJOKOVIC, ALCARAZ DRAWN ON SAME SIDE OF AUSTRALIAN OPEN DRAW

Djokovic and Alcaraz were drawn on the same side of the draw, with the two possibly facing in the quarterfinals.

Furthermore, Djokovic will face an uphill climb to reclaim the first major of the year which he lst won in 2023.

Moreover, the Serbian former world No.1 could face No.3 German Alexander Zverev should he gets past Alcaraz.

Djokovic, a 10-time winner in Melbourne, did not win a major last year but still copped a gold medal in men’s singles at the Paris Olympics.

He will playing his first major with new coach Andy Murray, who retired just after the Paris Games.

SINNER COULD BE TESTED BY MEDVEDEV, SHELTON, FRITZ TO DEFEND TITLE

Moreover, Jannik Sinner is on the opposite side of the draw as he awaits either Alcaraz, Djokovic, or Zverev possibly in the final.

Furthermore, the Italian defending champion will also be tested on his side of the draw.

The world No.1 could face Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Daniil Medvedev in his route to defend the title.

Sinner came back to topple Medvedev, 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3, to cop his first major in Melbourne.

There will be no repeat of last year’s semifinals, where Sinner upset Djokovic to earn the right to face Medvedev.

SABALENKA DRAWS STEPHENS IN FIRST ROUND CHALLENGE, COULD FACE ZHENG, ANDREEVA

Furthermore, Aryna Sabalenka drew 2017 US Open champion Slone Stephens in an early first round challenge.

Moreover, the Belarussian defending women’s champion is on the same draw with China’s Zheng Qinwen, whom she beat in the final last year.

Sabalenka could also be tested by rising 17-year-old star Mirra Andreeva on her side of the draw.

“I hope that I can keep doing what I’m doing here in Australia,” she said after the draw ceremony on Thursday.

Meanwhile, world No.2 Iga Swiatek and 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina are on Sabalenka’s opposite side of the draw.
