DJOKOVIC EYES QATAR OPEN AFTER GETTING CLEARANCE FROM MEDICAL TEAM

Djokovic eyes a return at the Qatar Open after he gets a clearance from the medical team to return to action.

Furthermore, the 37-year-old Serbian superstar sustained his hamstring injury at last month’s Australian Open semifinals against German Alexander Zverev.

Moreover, Djokovic made the announcement in an interview with Montegrin daily newspaper Vijesti on Monday.

“There is no more rupture in the muscle, the injury is almost 100% healed,” the 24-time Grand Slam winner said.

“I have the green light from the medical team to be able to train, to be able to prepare,” he added.

DOHA TOURNAMENT PART OF NOLE’S SCHEDULE

The Doha tournament, Djokovic said, is part of his team’s original schedule for his return after the Australian Open.

Moreover, the player also known as Nole was earlier reported to have his name listed in Indian Wells.

Furthermore, Djokovic also withdrew from Serbia’s Davis Cup first-round qualifying tie

Serbia lost to Denmark.

“The tournament in Doha is schedule for a week now, so I am sticking to the schedule,” the former world No.1 said.

“Thank God, I managed to recover quickly,” he added.

RECORD 100TH TITLE AT STAKE FOR NOLE IN QATAR OPEN

A record 100th title awaits Djokovic should he win the Qatar Open.

The tournament unfolds from February 17 to 22.

Furthermore, the Serbian seeks to become the third man after Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103) to win 100 singles titles.

Moreover, Djokovic bagged his 99th title with a gold medal winnning performance at last year’s Paris Olympics.

“I hope that the 100th trophy can come already in Doha, I’ve been chasing it for a long time, since October last year,” Djokovic said.

“But about that – it will come when it’s supposed to come. I know it will come, we’ll see when and where,” he added.
