Italian world No,84 Fabio Fognini, Uruguayan rugby player Tomas Etcheverry, and former top 10 tennis player Marcos Baghdatis reacted positively.

“That’s the best news. One last dance @andymurray @djokernole,” Baghdatis wrote on social media.

Furthermore, even Djokovic’s wife and former player Jelena was thrown off by her husband’s announcement.

“Anyone thought it was a retirement video?” she asked in jest.

“Good move,” he said.

Moreover, the 24-time Grand Slam champion believes his former British rival will help him as he prepare for the Australian Open in January.

“We had some of the most epic battles in our sport. I thought our story may be over (but it) turns out it has one final chapter,” Djokovic said in his announcement on Saturday.

“It’s time for one of my toughest opponents to step into my corner,” he added.

Murray replaces Goran Ivanisevic, who served as Djokovic’s coach for six years.

The retired Brit is “really excited for it and looking forward to spending time on the same side of the net as Novak for a change.”
