Durant surpasses Leslie

Durant finished with 11 points in Team USA’s 122-87 win over Brazil during Tuesday’s 2024 Paris Olympics quarterfinal.

The two-time Finals MVP broke Leslie’s scoring record after finishing a baseline dunk with 3:06 seconds left in the third frame.

The WNBA legend herself took to X to congratulate Durant for his recent feat.

“Congratulations Kevin Durant, I’m honored to have you break my Team USA Olympic record!!! Our dedication to our country is evident and etched in stone!! Now go get another Gold medal, my friend! One Team, One Goal, Gold! Go USA!”

Go for gold

Durant, 35, is participating in his fourth Olympics, and could become the first American basketball player to win four gold medals.

He won gold with Team USA at the 2012 London, 2016 Rio de Janeiro, and 2020 Tokyo Games.

Despite the historic moment, Durant insisted that his focus is to bring another gold medal to the country.

“Records are meant to be broken, so somebody will come along and do the same to me,” he said, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

“My focus is on trying to win this gold.”
