Mbappe ‘wants to play’ for France’s game vs Poland
The Real Madrid forward injured his nose in France’s opener against Austria after colliding with Kevin Danso.
Mbappe did not suit up for Les Bleus in their second match against Netherlands, as he is getting used with his mask.
However, the France captain played in a behind-closed-doors friendly a day later, scoring two goals and registering two assists.
Deschamps confirmed that Mbappe is ready to play.
“It’s better every day,” hesaid. “He was in our training sessions. The bruise has gone down a lot. He’s getting used to the mask.
“He wants to play, he’s raring to go. He wanted to play against the Netherlands and he wants to play tomorrow.”
“No problems with breathing but the way he sees yes. For those who play with a mask, it’s not a constraint but it does limit your vision. He wears it because he needs to protect his face in certain incidents that could occur.”
Will we see Mbappe return?
Without Mbappe, France struggled to score in their draw over Netherlands.
Deschamps hopes that the superstar striker will set the pace for France now that he is accustomed to playing with his mask on.
The France boss also hinted that Mbappe is now good to go against Poland.
“To be honest, I forgot that he was wearing a mask [in training],” Deschamps said. “He was great, decisive, dangerous — he played really well in the training session.”
“I hope that will reflect on the pitch tomorrow.”
