Ronaldo’s records and Denmark’s shock defeat
The Portuguese veteran now took his record to a higher level as his total goals reached 122 in 197 caps.
Ronaldo opened the scoring only nine minutes into the first half before grabbing a second after the half-hour. Chelsea’s on-loan Joao Felix and Man City Bernardo Silva extended the lead for Selecao.
Cr7 now has had more goals in 2023 than a lot of other big names such as:
- Messi: 7 goals in 14 games
- Haaland: 12 goals in 18 games
- Mbappe: 11 goals in 17 games
- Ronaldo: 15 goals in 13 games
Al-Nassr’s super-star also grabbed his 376 goals since turning 30. Ronaldo now has scored 10 goals in 11 games against Luxembourg. That’s the first time he’s reached double digits against an international side.
The most shocking result during the latest fixtures belonged to Kazakhstan’s clash with giant Denmark, in which the home side produced a 3-2 thrilling group H’s victory.
Kazakhstan scored within the final 17 minutes to complete a remarkable 3-2 comeback, courtesies of Baktiyor Zainutdinov, Askhat Tagybergen and Abat Aimbetov.
FC Astana’s forward Aimbetov received his second yellow card and got sent off for elbowing the opponent, but it was the last highlight of a dramatic game.
Danish is calling this the biggest upset in a long time of their national team’s performance, not even Denmark’s 0-4 loss vs. Armenia in 2013 gets particulary close to this result.
Six minutes into stoppage time, Aimbetov received his second yellow card and was sent off after elbowing a Danish player. Also in Group H, Slovenia beat San Marino 2-0 and Finland won 1-0 against Northern Ireland in Belfast.
England made it two wins from two by beating Ukraine 2-0, Italy bounced back from their loss to Gareth Southgate’s side with a 2-0 win in Malta.
