Spain remains perfect in EURO 2024 after beating Albania
Already assured of a Round-of-16 spot, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente implemented 10 changes to his starting line-up.
Centre back Aymeric Laporte was the only Spain player who remained in the starting XI.
That decision paid off for De La Fuente, as Barcelona forward Ferran Torres gave La Roja a much-needed cushion with a goal in the 13th minute.
Torres, 24, scored his 20th goal in 44 appearances for Spain.
Kristjan Asllani unleashed a 25-yard strike for Albania, only to be thwarted by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.
What happens to Spain, Albania
Albania could not find an equalizer throughout the match, as they finished bottom of the group with one point.
The Eagles played their last EURO match without striker Mirlind Daku, who was handed a two-game suspension.
Meanwhile, Spain’s win allowed France, Netherlands, and England to advance in the next round before their final group matches.
Spain topped the group with nine points, matching their feat in 2008 when they also won every group game en route to the title.

“Dreaming is free”
De La Fuente commended his squad for their incredible run in the group stage, but he also reminded them to “keep their feet on the ground.”
“Dreaming is free and we’re the first to dream, but while keeping our feet on the ground,” he said in a news conference.
“Every game is tough and it has a lot of merit what we did today and what we have done in the tournament — winning three games with clean sheets, which is the first ever time in a major tournament [for Spain].”
