FRENCH LEAGUE WANTS PSG TO PAY UNPAID WAGES TO MBAPPE

Furthermore, the French league wants PSG to pay unpaid wages worth €55 million (USD61 million) to Mbappe.

Moreover, the French superstar forward claimed he’s entitled to the said wages.

This was the reason why Mbappe rejected a mediation offer by Ligue 1’s legal commission regarding his dispute with his former club.

Mbappe, through his representatives, met with PSG officials in Paris on Wednesday to address the issue.

The 25-year-old forward joined Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer after spending seven years with PSG.

PSG TO TAKE FURTHER LEGAL ACTION, WILL NOT PAY UNPAID WAGES

Moreover, PSG seeks further legal action as the French club does not intend to pay Mbappe the unpaid wages.

Furthermore, the club said: “The matter must now be contested in another legal forum.”

“Paris Saint Germain is delighted to present all the facts over the coming months and year,” it added in its message to The Associated Press.

PSG claims Mbappe allegedly stipulates that he would give up his bonuses over his reintegration into the club.

This is a major reason why the Ligue 1 club does not owe money to the World Cup winner.

Incidentally, Mbappe was sidelined ahead of the 2023-24 season after he decided not to extend his contract with PSG.

TENSIONS MARKED PSG, MBAPPE RELATIONSHIP AFTER SIGNING NEW DEAL IN 2022

Furthermore, tensions arose between PSG and Mbappe after the latter signed a new deal in 2022.

Moreover, PSG offered Mbappe the most lucrative contract in the club’s history, but the French footballer turned it down.

Mbappe felt betrayed as PSG promised to sign key players, but the club failed to keep such promise.

The club tried to sell their then-star forward.

However, Mbappe rejected a €300-million move to Saudi League team Al Hilal at the time.

Mbappe told PSG in June last year that he would not take an option for an extra year in his contract.

This prompted PSG to exclude him from the club’s pre-season tour to Japan and South Korea in the summer of 2023.
