Mayoral’s home catches fire
Firefighters were called to extinguish a blaze at Mayoral’s house in Pozuelo de Alarcon, a town to the west of Madrid, on Monday afternoon.
The fire broke out while Mayoral was attending an award ceremony where he received the trophy for the top Spanish goalscorer in LaLiga.
According to an initial report from the newspaper ABC, the fire started in one of the upper-floor rooms of the property around 14:50 on Monday.
The fire caused damage to the roof structure.
At the time of the incident, only his two dogs were at home.
Fortunately, the animals were rescued by firefighters and placed in safe hands.
Mayoral and his partner “in shock” after Madrid home catches fire
Meanwhile, Mayoral and his partner, Flavia Natalini, provided an encouraging update to his fans.
“As you’ve read in various media, I had a problem at home today,” Mayoral posted on X. “Luckily, my family and I are fine and it was all just a scare. Thank you very much for your messages of concern.”
“A lot of you have been asking what happened,” Natalini posted in an Instagram Story. “We’re still in shock, but we’re all OK and that’s what’s important. Thank you everyone.”
Natalini also shared photos of the damage caused by the fire, as well as thanking the firefighters.
“What can I say about you? You’re heroes!” she wrote.
A product of Real Madrid’s youth academy, Mayoral has played for VfL Wolfsburg, Levante, and Roma.
The 27-year-old scored a career-best 15 league goals for Getafe before suffering a serious knee injury in March of this year.
Mayoral returned to action last month and has scored one goal in five La Liga games so far this season.
