Griezmann said no to Juventus after Atletico return’s deal failed
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid failed to reach an agreement on swapping Saul – Griezmann.
Right after the swap deal failed to go through with Atletico, L’Equipe suggested that Barca is contacting Juventus for a potential swap deal involving Dybala – Griezmann.
Barca and Juventus are no strangers in swap deal. They did a similar one last season, when Miralem Pjanic joined Barca, and Arthur went the opposite way.
However, Deportes Cuatro stated that, the French striker only leaves Barcelona for Atletico Madrid. Griezmann is reported to show no interest of Dybala swap deal and joining Juventus, or even a move to Premier League.
Barcelona, in other way, used to be dying to have Dybala in their squad. The Argentina winger was a target for both Barca and Real in 2017, his peak season with Juventus.
Right now, Barcelona are desperate to offload Griezmann, not for sporting reasons but for financial ones.
That’s because the Frenchman is one of the highest earners in the squad. Without letting Griezmann go, the Catalan club will be struggling in re-signing Lionel Messi.
Even now when Messi accepted to give up 50% of his pay, Barca is still in no ideal financial situation of paying their best player.
Griezmann, who joined up with the Barcelona squad this Tuesday after his holiday, was one of the most-used players for Ronald Koeman last year, participating in 51 games scoring 19 goals.
Dybala, meanwhile, has overcome a knee injury that saw him miss 18 games last season. Despite the injury setback, Dybala made 20 appearances for Juventus last campaign, scoring five goals in the process.
