GRIZZLIES VS THUNDER SAW MORANT EXIT GAME 2 DUE TO BAD FALL AFTER DORT HIT

The Grizzlies vs Thunder first-round playoff series took a nasty turn after Morant exits Game 3 due to a bad fall.

Furthermore, the All-Star guard landed hard on his hip as he went for a dunk when he was undercut by Dort, who slipped, in the second quarter.

Moreover, Morant was jumping on a basket on a 2-on-1 breakaway when he was hit by Dort in a tackle, as referees reviewed the play,

An initial flagrant foul was slapped on Dort, until the referees decided it was just a common foul.

Morant gingerly went back on the court to shoot his free throws with 3:15 left before halftime.

However, he missed both before he was taken straight to the locker room.

MEMPHIS TO MISS MORANT WITH HIP CONTUSION

Memphis will thus miss Morant for the remainder of Game 2 after he suffered what was called a hip contusion.

Moreover, the 25-year-old South Carolina native already had 15 points and five assists in 16 minutes when he went down.

Furthermore, Memphis took a 67-40 lead when Morant took the fall.

Morant had to take the free throws even if he went down hard.

This was to give Memphis an option of fielding the guard back to the game.

Had he skipped taking the foul shots, Morant would’ve automatically ruled out of Game 2.

PIPPEN STEPS UP BUT OKC RALLIES TO TAKE 3-0 LEAD

Scotty Pippen Jr. stepped up in Morant’s absence but OKC (Oklahoma City) rallied in the second to post a come-from-behind 114-108 victory.

Furthermore, the son of retired great Scottie Pippen scored 28 points on 8-of-16 shooting and 6-of-10 on 3-pointers.

Moreover, OKC took advantage of Morant’s absence behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Willians, and Chet Holmgren to pull off the win.

SGA scored 31 points, had 26, while Holmgren added 24 points and eight rebounds.

They helped the Thunder take a commanding 3-0 lead.

OKC rallied from a 27-point deficit from the time Morant went down.

The Grizzlies thus fell short of gifting their home crowd with a win.

Pippen’s 3-pointer gave Memphis its last lead at 108-105 before OKC responded with a 9-0 windup.

Homgren’s 3-pointer tied it before free throws by Williams, Holmgren, as wel as baskets and foul shots from Alex Caruso sealed it.
