Man City must use Erling Haaland better

Haaland’s form has dropped along with Manchester City’s performance.

City are on a run of just one win in their last 12 games across all competitions.

While Haaland remains second in the Premier League’s scoring ranks with 13 goals this season, he has scored only four times in his last 13 matches.

Guardiola’s side have dropped to seventh in the Premier League table, with just one win in their last eight matches.

The decorated manager insisted that the team must step up to help lighten Haaland’s burden.

“It’s about us, it’s not just about one playing. When Erling was so prolific, it was about us, the team,” Guardiola told a news conference ahead of City’s match against Everton.

“Erling is so important for us and will be so important for us. We need to use him better.

“The reason why is this one and this one and this one. It is about us, about everyone. The guys are running more than ever. Many little details and big details make us not as good as we were.”

Injuries have not helped City’s cause

City have struggled with injuries this term, with players like Rodri, Oscar Bobb, and Ruben Dias sidelined.

Meanwile, Ederson, Matheus Nunes, and John Stones are both doubtful for City’s Boxing Day clash with Everton.

“We will see how many players we have available. Right now, I do not know,” Guardiola said.

“Still, I didn’t talk with the doctors, but apparently, if he [Stones] could not continue in the second half in Villa Park, it’s because he will not be ready.”
