Haaland broke strings of records with hat-trick in Manchester derby
Erling Haaland continues to break Premier League records with a hat-trick with a sensational performance against Manchester United, in his first Manchester derby ever.
Man City’s £51-million signing this Summer Erling Haaland needed no time to prove his value, as he netted three goals against Manchester United on last Sunday.
Haaland already scored his second goal before half-time and added another to finish his hat-trick for City in the rampant 6-3 victory at Etihad.
With his amazing performance, the 21-year-old broke strings of records.
The former Dortmund talisman becomes the first EVER Premier League player to score three consecutive home hat-tricks.
What else? He is the fastest man to score three Premier League hat-tricks, which he needed only eight games, while it took the rest of all-legend list at least 48 games to accomplish the same record.
- Erling Haaland – 8 games
- Michael Owen – 48 games
- Ruud van Nistelrooy – 59 games
- Fernando Torres – 64 games
- Andrew Cole – 65 games
- Luis Suarez – 71 games
Man City are just the third side in Premier League history to have two players score hat-tricks in a single game after Arsenal vs Southampton (2003) and Leicester vs Southampton (2019). Phil Foden actually was the one who scored the opening goal and set the game on fire.
The English forward also joined Haaland during the game with him netting another double. The Man City pair had one ball each for their goals in the derby.
Haaland has now matched the total number of Premier League hat-tricks that Cristiano Ronaldo has (3)… having played just eight games.
The striker has now managed 14 goals in just eight league games, he only needs to net nine more times to equalize last season’s Golden boot’s number (23 goals – shared by Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Son heung-min).
