HEAT VS GRIZZLIES SAW MORANT ‘FINGER GUNS GESTURE’ AGAIN BEFORE GAME-WINNER WINS IT
The Heat vs Grizzlies game saw Morant’s “finger guns” gesture again before he made the game-winner in Memphis’ 110-108 victory.
Furthermore, the 25-year-old All-Star guard hit a 12-footer just before the buzzer sounded to win it for the Grizzlies on the road.
Moreover, Morant also gave interim coach Tuomas Iisalo his first win in handling Memphis since the team fired Taylor Jenkins.
But what shared the spotlight from Morant’s buzzer-beater also came from himself, who made the finger guns celebration after his first basket in the first quarter.
It was the second time the All-Star guard displayed the gesture after the Grizzlies’ 134-125 road loss at Golden State on Tuesday.
NBA WARNS JA, HIELD OVER FINGER GUNS GESTURE: SOURCES
Sources told ESPN on Thursday that the league warned Morant and Golden State guard Buddy Hield regarding the gestures.
Moreover, the NBA ruled that the celebrations were not intended to be violent but it was inappropriate, sources said.
Furthermore, technicals were called on both Morant and Hield for making such gestures.
Morant started it 20.1 seconds left in the fourth quarter as he pointed them to the Warriors’ bench off a timeout.
Hield responded with a similar gesture at Morant a few moments later.
GAME-WINNER SAVES GRIZZLIES FROM ANOTHER TOUGH LOSS
Morant drove into the lane before popping for the game-winner to break a 108-all deadlock and cap his 30-point performance.
Furthermore, Desmond Bane tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Scotty Pippen Jr also had 17 points for the Grizzlies.
Moreover, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jaylen Wells scored 13 points each for Memphis (45-32).
Tyler Herro finished with 35 points and Bam Adebayo had 26 points and seven rebounds for the Heat (35-42).
Despite the loss, Miami is assured of a place in the play-in tournament.
This became evident after Milwaukee beat Philadelphia earlier Thursday.
Kal’el Ware added 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Heat.
Miami became the third team in NBA history to to lose at least 10 in a row before winning six straight times.
