ICC PLAN SHOWS INDIA’S 2025 CHAMPIONS TROPHY MATCHES SET IN LAHORE

Furthermore, an ICC plan shows India’s Champions Trophy matches next year are set in Lahore.

Based on its draft schedule, Lahore will be a separate host by Pakistan for India matches, multiple reports said.

Moreover, the much-awaited India-Pakistan match is scheduled for March 1.

The ICC is bracing for the Board of Control for Cricket of India (BCCI) decision to skip sending a team to play in Pakistan.

On the other hand, the BCCI insists that security issues served as the reason why the board refuses to send a team to Islamabad for the Champions Trophy tournament.

PCB APPROVES COST INCREASE ESTIMATE IF SOME MATCHES PLAYED OUTSIDE PAKISTAN

Moreover, an approval note from the Chief Executives Committee (CEC) was obtained by Cricbuzz showing an ICC draft schedule.

“Management has also approved an estimate of the increase in the cost of staging the event (Champions Trophy) if it is necessary to play some matches outside Pakistan,” the approval note said.

“A planning meeting and inspection of proposed match venues took place in Pakistan in March 2024,” it added.

Furthermore, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) signed the host agreement while working with management to draft an event budget.

The budget was submitted to the F&CA for approval.

On the other hand, the ICC already shared the draft schedule with stakeholders, including broadcasters and the participating teams.

COMPETITION, PRIZE MONEY, DISTRIBUTION, PRODUCTION COST BUDGETS LAID OUT

Furthermore, the budgets for prize money, distribution, and production costs have already been laid out for next year’s Champions Trophy.

Moreover, some USD35 million will be allocated for the competition itself, while USD20 million will be used for participation and prize money distribution.

On the other hand, another USD10 million will be allocated for production costs associated with televising the 20-day tournament.

It would be recalled that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi earlier vowed to avoid issuing statements regarding India’s stint in the tournament.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanveer Ahmed dared India’s Harbhajan Singh to play in Islamabad next year.

The last time an India men’s cricket team played in Pakistan was in 2006.
