ICC TOLD TO STAGE INDIA’S CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2025 MATCHES IN SRI LANKA, DUBAI

Furthermore, the ICC was told to stage India’s Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Sri Lanka or Dubai, ANI reported.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the Indian men’s cricket team will not travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Moreover, tense relations between India and Pakistan have prevented New Delhi from sending teams to play cricket tournaments in Islamabad.

The last time India played at a cricket tournament in Pakistan was at the 2008 Asia Cup.

Interestingly, the ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled from February to March next year in Pakistan.

INDIA TO PLAY IN PAKISTAN ONLY IF CENTRAL GOVT ALLOWS IT, SAYS BCCI VP SHUKLA

Moreover, India will play in Pakistan only if New Delhi’s central government allows it, according to BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla.

“In the case of the Champions Trophy, we will do whatever the Government of India will tell us to do,” Shukla said in May.

“We send our team only when the Government of India permits us. So we will go according to the decision of the Indian government,” he added.

Furthermore, the Pakistan Cricket Board suggested to the BCCI that India play all of its matches in one city.

Lahore was picked as the venue where India will play all its matches but the BCCI said New Delhis remains uninterested.

In last year’s Asia Cup, all of India’s matches – including those against Pakistan – were held in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan was the host of last year’s Asia Cup.

FORMER MINISTER SAYS BOTH INDIA, PAKISTAN MUST PLAY ROLES TO IMPROVE TIES

On the other hand, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said both India and Pakistan must play their roles to improve ties.

Moreover, Abdullah cited the recent terrorist attacks on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

These attacks, Abdullah said, should not happen again.

“The kind of attacks that are happening should not happen, the kind of atmosphere that is there, should not be there,” Abdullah said.

“Pakistan will also have to play its role in this so that the relations between the two countries improve,” he added.

Interestingly, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be the first major cricket in Pakistan.

The last time Pakistan had a major cricket competition was when it co-hosted the 1996 World Cup with India and Sri Lanka.
