INDIA TO RELY ON BANSOD, MEN’S TEAM AS SINDHU OUT FOR BAMTC 2025
Expect India to rely on Bansod and the men’s singles team for the BAMTC (Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships) 2025 in Qingdao, China.
Furthermore, Bansod will be the top women’s singles shuttler after Sindhu opted to skip the tournament.
Moreover, the two-time Olympic medallist sustained a hamstring injury while training in Guwahati last week.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share I won’t be travelling with the team for BAMTC 2025” Sindhu said on social media.
“Despite my efforts to push through with heavy taping for our country, an MRI has revealed that my recovery will take slightly longer than I initially expected,” she added.
BANSOD TRIES TO STEER SINDHU-LESS SQUAD TO MATCH OR TOP 2023 BRONZE MEDAL RUN
Bansod now tries to steer a Sindhu-less India squad to match or top the team’s bronze medal run in the 2023 edition of the BAMTC.
Moreover, India’s world No.29 hopes to gain more big-game experience with Sindhu out.
Furthermore, the other members of the women’s team are doubles players Gayatri Gopichand, Treesa Jolly, and Ashwini Ponnappa.
Tanisha Crasto and Aadya Variyath round out the women’s squad.
India will be bunched alongside South Korea and Macau in Group D.
SEN, PRANNOY HEADLINE MEN’S TEAM
Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy will headline India’s men’s team.
Furthermore, the two veterans will represent the men’s singles squad.
Moreover, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Setty, also known as “SatChi” will lead the men’s doubles team.
They will be joined by Dhruv Kapila, MR Arjun, and Sathish Kumar Karunakaran.
Sathish and Variyath will play in mixed doubles, with the pair coming off a gold medal stint at the National Games in Dehradun.
