Indonesia 0-2 Argentina – Highlights
It was no surprise to see the South American side dominating against a spirited Indonesia team playing in front of a crowd of 56,000.
La Albiceleste traveled to Jakarta without their legend Lionel Messi, but the likes of Nahuel Molina and Nicolas Gonzalez remained the instant menace to the home side.
The breakthrough happened in the 38th minute, and it was a thing of beauty. Parades found space from 30 meters and pulled a thunderbolt into the top corner.
Argentina doubled their lead 10 minutes after the break when Romero easily headed home from a Giovani Lo Celso corner.
Indonesia defended in numbers to try to stem the onslaught. It created a few chances in the second half, testing keeper Emi Martinez with a succession of long throws into a crowded box.
Indonesia’s South Korean coach Shin Tae-yong said the match was a confidence boost ahead of next year’s Asian Cup, while the country’s president, Joko Widodo, said he had feared the team would be trounced.
He described their second-half performance as “extraordinary”.
“Argentina are ranked first and we’re 149th, but we only conceded two goals,” he said. “This is a big experience for us.”
