The Argentine superstar said Wednesday he’s going to join the Major League Soccer club.
“I made the decision that I am going to Miami. I still haven’t closed it one hundred percent. I’m missing some things but we decided to continue my journey there,” the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner said in an interview posted by Spanish outlets SPORT and Mundo Deportivo.

With 289 goals in his European career for clubs like Real Madrid, Juventus, and Napoli, Messi’s former teammate Higuaín was a big-name signing when he joined before the 2021 season.
He went on to make 64 appearances, 54 of them starts, and tallying 26 goals and 14 assists in MLS action and left the club at the end of 2022 season as he announced retirement from football. He led the team in scoring in 2021 with 12 goals before ending the spell.
David Beckham’s role in Inter Miami
David Beckham, the Manchester United and Real Madrid great and the LA Galaxy star, is recognized as one of the co-owners of the relatively new MLS side, which began play in the 2020 season.
Beckham is joined by The Mas brothers – who are the sons of billionaire Jorge Mas Canosa – founder of Miami-based construction company MasTec.
Jorge Mas is also the president of Spanish club Real Zaragoza.
According to sources, Beckham was handed an option to own an MLS club as part of his deal to join the league back in 2007, and he exercised that option to set up the club in Miami.
He is also known as the game-changer as he joined MLS 17 years ago and totally revolutionized the American soccer league in one way or another.
