Toney moves to Al-Ahli
The Bees accepted a bid in the region of £40m for the 28-year-old.
Toney, 28, leaves Brentford having scored 72 goals in 141 appearances, including 36 during their three seasons in the Premier League.
“It’s been a pleasure to work with Ivan over the last four years,” said head coach Thomas Frank.
“He has averaged more than one goal every two games, which is an unbelievable number.
“On the pitch, he has been a fantastic goalscorer, link-up player and leader. He has pushed the team, the squad and himself.”
“Brentford legend”
Toney joined Brentford after spending two seasons with Peterborough United.
The forward missed the first half of last season with a gambling ban but came back last January.
Toney was part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad at EURO 2024, becoming the third Brentford player in the club’s history to feature for the Three Lions.
He assisted Harry Kane’s winning goal against Slovakia in the round of 16, and scored a penalty in the shootout victory over Switzerland.
“It’s a wonderful journey that we have been on together. Ivan helped the club and the team, and the club and the team have helped Ivan,” Frank said.
“I’m happy he has an opportunity to try something new in his life and career. We thank him for so many magic moments and wish him all the best for his next chapter.
“Ivan leaves as a Brentford legend.”
