ROOT TOPS ICC TEST RANKINGS; HARRY BROOK RISES TO FOURTH

Furthermore, Root tops the ICC Test rankings with 881 points after the list was released on Wednesday.

Moreover, the veteran English batter played a key role in England’s opening Test against Sri Lanka in Manchester.

Root’s teammate Harry Brook (758) compiled scores of 56 and 32 in England’s 1-0 lead against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford.

This enabled Brook to jump three spots to fourth place.

New Zealand’s Kane Williamson (859) follows Root in second place, followed by fellow Kiwi Daryl Mitchell (768).

Australian cricketer Steven Smith rounded out the top five with 757 points.

KOHLI, JAISWAL CONTINUE IMPROVEMENT, MOVES UP IN TOP 10

Moreover, Kohli and Jaiswal boosted their positions in the top 10.

Kohli (738) rose two places higher at No.8, while Jaiswal (740) moved a spot up to seventh.

Furthermore, India captain Rohit Sharma (751) fell out of the top five and into sixth place.

Babar Azam dropped six places (734) to ninth after his golden duck and 22 performance in Pakistan’s first-ever Test loss to Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

On the other hand, Mohamad Rizwan (728) improved by seven spots to crack the top 10.

Rizwan scored 171 not out and 51 for Pakistan in their recent Test.

ASHWIN RULES BOWLERS’ LIST AS BUMRAH, JADEJA KEEP IN STEP

Furthermore, India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin ruled the latest ICC rankings among bowlers.

Aside from Ashin, the other India cricketers on the list are pacer Jasprit Bumrah (third) and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja (seventh).

Moreover, England seamer Chris Woakes rose four rungs to No.16, followed by Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando.

Fernando moved 10 places from No.27 to the top 20 (No.17).

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s right-arm pacer Naseem Shah and England’s Gus Atkinson provided the other major changes in the rankings.

Shah rose four spots to No.33, while Atkinson moved four places to No.42.
