KERR FEELS BAD FOR MELTON AFTER GUARD TO UNDERGO SURGERY

Kerr feels bad for Melton after the Warriors guard is set to undergo surgery due to his sprained left ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury.

Furthermore, the Golden State head coach admitted Melton would’ve been a perfect fit as a starter in the backcourt alongside Stephen Curry.

Moreover, Kerr cited Melton as an effective two-way player who’s an effective defender with a rangy three-point shooting.

“I feel so bad for De’Anthony. He’s such a perfect fit for us and we were so excited to have him,” the Warriors coach said.

“He was clearly going to be our starter next to Steph (Curry),” he added.

WATERS, PODZIEMSKI EYED TO START IN MELTON’S PLACE

Lindy Waters or Brandin Podziemski, Kerr said, are eyed to start alongside Curry in Melton’s place.

Moreover, Kerr cited Waters 6-foot-6 frame as someone who can fill Melton’s role.

“I liked Lindy in the starting lieneup the other night. He’s started the last (two),” the Dubs’ coach said.

“Lindy’s a very good player, a really two-way player. He fills that role well, so we’ll keep starting him and see how it goes,” he added.

Kerr’s other options, aside from Waters and Podziemski, would be Moses Moody.

MELTON’S AGENT IN CONTACT WITH WARRIORS TO ADDRESS GUARD’S FREE AGENCY IN 2025

Meanwhile, Melton’s agent remains in contact with Warriors management to address the guard’s free agency next year.

Furthermore, Kerr looks forward to have Melton beyond this season, when he signed a USD12.8 million one-year deal.

Moreover, the Warriors’ coach is thankful for his team’s depth, saying Podziemski is equally deserving to start.

“BP (Podziemski) is another good option, and might end up there, depending on how things go,” Kerr said.

“But I like Lindy’s shooting off-ball, to go with that first group,” he added.
