KOHLI, SHARMA FALL AFTER INDIA LOSS TO AUSTRALIA IN ADELAIDE TEST
Kohli and Sharma fall several notches after India lost to Australia in the Adelaide pink-ball Test last week.
Furthermore, Kohli fell six positions to No.20 after he scored just 7 and 11 in Adelaide.
Moreover, Sharma dropped five posts and out of the top 30 at No.31.
Additionally, Sharma was held to just nine across both innings as he was No.6 in the batting order in Adelaide.
India absorbed a 10-wick defeat to Australia in their visit to Adelaide.
BROOK TOPS ROOT AS TOP BATTER; JAISWAL, PANT ONLY INDIANS IN TOP 10
Moreover, Brook topped Root to the top spot in the ICC Men’s Test Batter rankings.
Furthermore, Brook’s eighth Test century for England against New Zealand in Wellington last week was enough to topple Root for the top spot.
That enabled Brook to collect 898 rating points, one above his veteran English teammate Root’s 897.
Meanwhile, Yashavi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant emerged as the only Indian cricketers in the top 10.
Jaiswal is at No.4, while Pant barely made it at No.9.
TEST BATTER RANKINGS A ‘CHANGING OF THE GUARD,’ SAYS ICC
Furthermore, the ICC says the latest Test batter rankings confirmed a “changing of the guard” after Brook took over.
Moreover, the council also recognizes the rise of Australia and South Africa based on their cricketers’ performances in the list.
“A changing of the guard at the top of the Test batter rankings,” the ICC said.
“While stars from Australia and South Africa make big gains on the updated list,” it added.
Root gave up the top spot to Brook since the former overtook former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson in July this year.
