Furthermore, the Thai Olympic silver medallist survived an opening-set loss to defy a hostile crowd and deny Christie a home title win.

Moreover, Kunlavut needed an hour and 17 minutes but he relied on an 11-6 start in the decider to hold on for the win.

The 23-year-old world No.5 capped an impressive run that saw him bring down Chinese world No.1 Shi Yu Qi of China, 21-13, 21-17, in the semifinals on Saturday.

It was a sorry loss for Christie, who reached the final after pulling off a 21-18, 24-22 decision over Tzu Wei Wang of Chinese Taipei.

The victory was the Bangkok native’s first major title since winning the Spain Masters in March 2024.

Ratchanok got this far after she ousted Sung Shuo Yun of Chinese Taipei, 21-15, 21-12, in the semifinals.

Sim earned her finals shot after she defeated another Taiwanese shuttler in Wen Chi Hsu, 21-11, 21-10.
