Real Madrid’s title hope hit by another draw
It was another disappointed night for Los Blancos as their league title hops were drifted away a bit further after a goalless draw at Betis.
Karim Benzema had his goal in the first half ruled out by VAR, but saw his other attempts blocked by former Barca Claudio Bravo.
Bravo made five saves in total to preserve a point for his side, with that the most he has made in an individual LaLiga match in 16 appearances this season.
Barca went 9 points clear on top
The Blaugrana beat Valencia by Raphinha’s header, despite playing with 10 men with Ronald Araujo’s 59th-minute red card.
Sergio Busquets clipped the ball into the box and the Brazilian forward timed his run to perfection to get in front of Giorgi Mamardashvili and glance the ball into an unguarded net.
Araujo saw red having pulled down Hugo Duro to prevent the Valencia striker charging through on goal.
A tough home win with Xavi in the stand as the Barca’s head coach was fined with a one-game suspension.
Valencia had good chances either side of Araujo’s dismissal, but they failed to test Marc-Andre ter Stegen and remain two points from safety in the relegation zone.
9 points at the summit, the Catalan club is sitting comfortably atop of the standings.
