LA ROJA CELEBRATE EURO 2024 TITLE WIN WITH VISIT TO KING FELIPE VI

The La Roja celebrate their EURO 2024 title win with a visit to King Felipe VI at the Zarzuela Palace on Monday.

Furthermore, the team also went to the Moncloa Palace, the official residence of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

The La Roja arrived at the Barajas Airport in Madrid just after 2 pm local time on Monday.

Spain posted a 2-1 victory over England in the final.

Moreover, over half a million people attended the celebrations as the team used an open-top bus to parade through Madrid’s streets.

“We want a lot. We want more,” Sanchez said.

The bus took them from Plaza Cibeles to central Madrid as the La Roja shared their fourth EURO championship.

Additionally, Spain also won in 1964, 2008, and 2012.

MORATA PRESENTS EURO TROPHY TO FANS ONSTAGE AFTER BUS PARADE

Moreover, Spain captain Alvaro Morata presented the Euro trophy to fans onstage after the bus parade.

“We’re champions of Europe! I’ve been proud to be captain of this team,” Morata told the fans.

“Sometimes I score (goals), and sometimes I don’t, but I promise you that I’ve given everything to win this European championship,” he added.

Furthermore, the Spanish captain wished the fans to enjoy the title “as much as we did. It was magical.”

On the other hand, key players Nico Williams, Lamine Yamal, and Mikel Oyarzabal wore white t-shirts with the number four on them.

“For now, we’re not realizing yet what we have accomplished,” Williams said.

DE LA FUENTE DESCRIBES LA ROJA PLAYERS AS ‘ROLE PLAYERS’ FOR SPAIN

Furthermore, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente described his La Roja players as “role players” for Spain after their historic win.

“We’re proud that Spain have this generation, with their values. They’re role models for Spain,” the coach said.

“I’m proud to coach a group like this. Let’s hope that (success) continues,” he added.

Moreover, the La Roja won all seven matches in Euro 2024, including group-stage victories over Croatia, Italy, and Albania.

Spain then posted a 4-1 win over Georgia in the round of 16 that was followed up with a 2-1 decision over host Germany in the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, the La Roja rallied from a goal down to oust Kylian Mbappe and France, 2-1 in the semifinal to set the stage for their final against England.
