Leicester’s Jamie Vardy taunts Hotspur fans after being subbed off

Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy had a memorable Premier League return by taunting Tottenham Hotspur fans after a 1-1 draw in the opener Monday.

Vardy taunts Hotspur fans

Leicester made its return in the top flight after they were promoted from the Championship last season.

Vardy, 37, equalized the game in the 57th minute with a solid header.

When the veteran striker left the pitch in the 79th minute, he was jeered by the travelling Tottenham fans.

This gave him the opportunity to goad them by pointing at the Premier League badge on his arm and holding up one finger, referring to the title Leicester won in 2016.

The taunting continued when Vardy then pointed at the Spurs fans and made a zero sign with his finger.

Tottenham has yet to win a Premier League title.

“Part of football”

Vardy downplayed his antics with the Spurs fans, saying “it’s part of football.”

“You take a bit of stick during the game, but it’s part of football,” Vardy said. “As long as they can take it when I’m giving it back, that’s all that matters.”

Speaking about his form, Vardy said that age isn’t catching up with him yet and that he will continue playing.

“I see it [age] as just a number. As long as I keep looking after myself and my legs keep feeling great, then I will carry on for as long as is physically possible,” Vardy said afterwards.

“I wouldn’t say I am doing anything differently playing-wise. Probably adapted a bit by dropping in but I think the main thing is I am looking after myself recovery-wise to the maximum. I was as fit as a fiddle until I got to about 65 minutes, if I’m honest!”
