Messi’s magic continues

Since he arrived in America, the 2022 World Cup champion has never stopped amazing the fans, and he has always delivered when it matters the most.

The Argentinian forward opened the score early for David Beckham’s side Inter Miami. The Jordi Alba-Messi connection was impressive, as the duo re-created one of their finest goals to give Inter Miami the lead over FC Dallas.

Alba ran down the left flank before his cut-back found Messi, who fired a low finish to break the deadlock.

However, Miami could not hold their advantage long, with their opponent taking the lead by scoring two goals in eight minutes just before halftime.

The second half was thrilling.

The defense’s poor performance could not back up the attackers, as the lead was already 3-1, 3-2, then 4-2 when Inter Miami’s Robert Taylor, slid and kicked the ball into the opposition’s net.

It felt like every time Messi and co-scored, they immediately conceded another goal.

The glimpse of a comeback was lit when Marco Farfan scored an own goal to shorten the deficit to one goal. Messi understood that his side was down and out just yet.

Another Messi’s stunning free-kick to save the day

Then Messi came with another overhead free-kick to bring Miami back from the dead.

The 85th-minute stunner sealed a 4-4 comeback draw in their Round of 16 clash, forcing penalty kicks at Toyota Stadium. After a 4-4 tie, both sides decided to a shootout, as there is no extra time during League Cup.

Messi scored when spot-kicks got underway, helping the Herons win 5-3 in the shootout.
