AMORIM DEFENDS ONANA, TAKES BLAME FOR ALLOWING LYON VS UNITED DRAW

Ruben Amorim defended Onana after their UEFA Europa League match.

Furthermore, the 40-yea-old United manager is aware that Onana committed the errors that led to Lyon’s two goals in the tightly-contested match.

“If you look at the season I’ve made more mistakes than them during these last games and during these last months,” the 40-year-old manager said.

The United manager still trusts Onana, whom he still considers as part of his best 11 players who start in his squad.

Moreover, Amorim knows his goalkeeper is under fire after committing eight errors that led to the opposing team’s goals the past few games.

Furthermore, former Red Devils player Nemanja Matic described Onana as  “one of the worst goalkeepers” in United’s history.

“But I’m really confident in Andre (Onana). We continue to do the same thing,” Amorim said in defending his goalkeeper from Matic’s comments.

“Training, seeing the games, trying to choose the best eleven to win every match,” he added.

“When one player has a mistake, all the team has a mistake so we continue like that,” Amorim said.

“He (Onana) has got to save both of them in my opinion and he has cost United today,” former England midfielder Aaron Lennon told BBC Radio 5 Live.
