The club’s boss, Erik Ten Hag, is clear about the profile of the player he wants to incorporate into the team to compete next season, in which they have also qualified for the Champions League.
The coach wants to sign a midfielder, a striker, and a goalkeeper, but first, a total clear-out must be executed.
Man United’s massive clear-out
The Red Devils are looking to close the gap on rivals Man City who have dominated the English Premier League for a decade, having won a historic treble under Pep Guardiola.
Manager Erik ten Hag needs major investment, but at the same time, a total clear-out is required to deal with the massive squad overhaul.
A busy summer is coming, and the English team will be the highlight during the transfer window.
According to British sources like Daily Mail or Mirror, the club will listen to offers for up to 13 players during the window.
The aim would be to raise around £100 million to strengthen the club next season as they compete in the UEFA Champions League.
Who are out?
No one is safe at Manchester, even the big figures like Sir Alex Ferguson’s last signing, David de Gea, or the hefty price of Jadon Sancho, who cost nearly £80m from Borussia Dortmund.
Some players will not come cheap, and several current Man Utd stars could potentially be sold to finance those moves.
For-sale list of Man United’s players
- Jadon Sancho, David de Gea, Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial
- Dean Henderson, Fred, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Elanga, Alex Telles, Eric Bailly, Brandon Williams, Hannibal Mejbri and Zidane Iqbal
Manchester United will demand around £45m for Jadon Sancho, while De Gea has been a part of a potential swap deal with Inter Milan’s Onana.
Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial were signed for £85m and £36m (£58m with potential add-ons) from Leicester and Monaco, respectively, with their asking prices reportedly sitting at £40m and £25m.
The lower tier of the list with Van de Beek, Fred, and Anthony Elanga are all up for sale this summer, with the club hopeful of receiving around £20m each for the trio.
The club’s academy graduates could be on the market. United have slapped a £40m asking price on Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay and will listen to offers from him, while Dean Henderson is available at £20m as he continues to be linked with a return to Nottingham Forest.
The sales are anticipated to continue. Hannibal Mejbri and Alex Telles have been transfer, listed by Ten Hag, with demands of £13m and £10m put on them, respectively.
